is Abundance a mindset?

Discover how to embrace a life filled with abundance and gratitude – and how this mindset can lead you to the success and wealth you seek! As humans, our brains are designed to protect us from harm, leading us to often fixate on scarcity and fear if we allow it. However, we possess the power to control our thoughts and can shift our perspective towards abundance. By changing your mindset in this way, you can attract more of what you desire, paving the way for success in all areas of your life, including financial prosperity!

Almost everyone yearns for more abundance in their lives. We all aspire to have an abundance of love, health, kindness — and yes — financial freedom. If you're eager to cultivate more abundance in your life, we have encouraging news for you. The power of positive living can elevate your energy, enabling you to avoid negativity and empowering you to achieve greater abundance. You can begin this journey right now by following some straightforward advice.

What is Abundance?

Abundance can be defined as having the freedom, time, and resources to create the life you desire. In our reality, resources often include money. While money alone does not guarantee happiness, it is frequently necessary to pursue what truly brings us joy or to support us as we do.

Financial abundance doesn’t just refer to a specific amount in your bank account or never needing to work again. Imagine feeling secure and at ease with your finances, effortlessly paying your bills while engaging in activities you love. Achieving this may require effort, but aligning yourself energetically with your financial aspirations can help make them more attainable.

The Law of Abundance is straightforward:

  • What we believe, we receive

  • What we project, we attract

  • You will reap what you sow

What is an Abundance Mindset?

An abundance mindset is the belief that there are sufficient resources in the world for everyone, including yourself. This perspective can help you recognize more opportunities and possibilities while focusing on the positive. By integrating an abundance mindset into your daily life, you may find greater happiness in your own achievements and derive more joy from the prosperity of others.

Conversely, a scarcity mindset reflects the belief that opportunities for success are limited. This mindset can create fear and undermine your confidence in achieving your dreams.

Though adopting an abundance mindset may be challenging initially, with practice, it can become second nature.

12 Exercises to Develop an Abundance Mindset

Various goals, such as saving money or advancing your career, can be positive side effects of embracing an abundance mindset or setting abundance goals.

  1. Be Grateful
Gratitude is as vital to your happiness as oxygen is to your body. Appreciating what you have invites positive energy into your life, allowing you to give and receive joy. It fosters the right attitude to overcome self-doubt, fear, and frustration, helping you manifest the abundance you desire and reach your financial goals. If you're struggling to find gratitude, try these daily exercises:

  2. Take a moment to acknowledge the abundance around you: the sunshine, your cozy bed, loved ones, and food.

  3. Use positive affirmations. (For instance, "I attract abundance. I am living an abundant life. I believe more abundance is on its way to me.")

  4. Reach out to a higher power to express gratitude for your blessings.

  5. Mindfully reflect on your blessings.

  6. Remove Blockages
Consider what attitudes, preconceived notions, or habits might be hindering your abundance. Do you doubt your ability to earn more, advance your career, or meet financial goals? Do you cling to every dollar out of fear of losing it? Remember that money, like everything else, is energy meant to flow. Holding onto it due to fear can obstruct that flow, preventing you from both giving and receiving. Negative thoughts about money can create a paralyzing fear of taking action, which will hinder your financial aspirations.

Intention is a powerful tool. Mindfully shifting your thought patterns can bring healthier energy into your financial life, helping to eliminate negative self-talk that may prevent you from pursuing promotions, making wise investments, or changing careers.

  1. Get Balanced
If your body’s energy is out of balance, it can lead to various physical and emotional issues. Negative emotions can become trapped within you, lingering for years. If you struggle with self-doubt or can't shake fears and insecurities about money, trapped emotions may be the culprit.

Consider using muscle testing and the Emotion Code® to identify these trapped energies and work towards releasing them. This simple process can be done independently or with a practitioner. We recommend our 14-Day Emotion Code Challenge as a starting point, along with reading The Emotion Code book, which can help you understand how trapped emotions may be affecting you physically, emotionally, spiritually, and financially.

Releasing these trapped energies could be a crucial step in manifesting, attracting, and achieving your financial goals while fostering greater abundance.

  1. Identify Your Beliefs About Money
Understanding your beliefs about wealth and financial responsibility is essential. Take some time to write down your thoughts about money, both positive and negative, and reflect on how your feelings about money have evolved over time.

  2. Have your thoughts about money changed throughout your life?

  3. If so, what prompted these changes?

  4. Were your beliefs about money influenced by your parents or other adults?

Afterward, review your notes to identify any patterns that may be triggering negativity or imbalances, potentially obstructing your abundance.

  1. Release Fear
Have you ever found yourself thinking (and acting) from a place of fear or scarcity? If you've faced financial struggles or job insecurity, you may prioritize holding onto every penny or seeking a more "secure" 9-to-5 job over pursuing your true career dreams. These thoughts stem from fear rather than passion or desire. Instead of fixating on potential failures, consider what might go right if you pursue what you truly want.

  2. Be in the Moment
Mindfulness, a key aspect of calming practices like yoga and meditation, should be integrated into all that you do.

For example, being mindful while eating can help you slow down, make healthier choices, and avoid overeating. In moments of conflict or disappointment, practicing mindfulness can foster empathy and enable you to see the best in those around you. Recognizing the good in others can enhance relationships and contribute to a happier, more abundant you.

Being present also means refraining from dwelling on the past or worrying about the future. Instead of expending energy on those thoughts, focus on appreciating your current life. This appreciation can nurture a more positive, abundant mindset.

  1. Work on Yourself
Have you noticed that as you enhance your skills, maintain a positive mindset, and develop your character, opportunities seem to come to you without much effort? Have you ever experienced an incredible relationship, career opportunity, or realization of a dream appearing unexpectedly? Perhaps you attracted that blessing by simply being the amazing, positive person you are.

Improving your mindset, expanding your abilities, and living authentically can significantly increase your chances of leading a more abundant life.

  1. Practice Your Passions
What activities bring you the most joy and fulfillment? Seek them out and engage in them. It may involve pursuing a hobby or making a significant career change. For instance, if you work in a corporate setting but have a passion for furniture building, consider whether that passion is calling you. What begins as a side project could evolve into the fulfillment you seek.

Following your passions may require significant lifestyle changes, but they can lead to true happiness.

  1. Focus on Possibilities, Not Limits
Believing that you cannot afford a home, secure a new job, or save for early retirement diminishes your chances of achieving those goals. Conversely, if you genuinely believe that wonderful opportunities exist around every corner, you'll be more inclined to seek them out! A scarcity mindset can hinder your aspirations, leading you to settle for less and deem your desires unrealistic. Embracing an abundance mindset allows everything to appear attainable.

  2. Don’t Fear Financial Commitment
To achieve wealth and abundance, it's crucial to create a plan and adhere to it. This ties back to the sincerity of your mindset regarding financial abundance. For example, if you promise to save money by dining out only once a week, but then opt for takeout the very next day, you're undermining your own efforts.

Create a solid plan, implement it without delay, and commit to it wholeheartedly. Avoid procrastination or compromising your plan, even slightly. Reflect on how often you've resolved to start tomorrow, next week, or next month. Choose to act now to prevent the self-sabotage that procrastination can create.

  1. Avoid Dream Squashers
Some individuals choose a life of scarcity and may attempt to drag you down into their negativity by undermining your happiness and achievements. If possible, share your positivity with them. If they persist in dimming your light, it may be best to distance yourself from that toxic energy.

  2. Share the Abundance
An abundance mindset embodies the belief that resources are plentiful and should be available to everyone (yes, including you!). If you find yourself with an excess, share it — don’t hold it over those who have less. “If you are more fortunate than others, it’s better to build a longer table than a taller fence.”

Sharing your abundance, whether it’s a sunny disposition, a sense of humor, or kindness, can help both you and others experience what true abundance feels like — and facilitate the achievement of that abundance.
